Internet Download Accelerator is a program that speeds up downloads on Windows PCs.
Who doesn't want faster downloads? While you might believe that your download speed is inextricably tied to things like the number of people trying to download the same file or the speed of your internet connection, creators of several programs will have you believe that there are ways to magically accelerate your downloads. While there is some truth to this, you aren't going to see significant gains without a little bit of internet trickery. Internet Download Accelerator will certainly give you a little extra speed, but it doesn't do anything to really accelerate the download speed.
Internet Download Accelerator increases download speeds by chopping files into smaller component pieces and allowing them to download at the same time. For many, this can lead to a small but significant uptick in download speed. This won't do much, though, especially if you are looking at a larger file. You will see some improvement, but nothing near what the creators of the program claim. Honestly, this program is far more useful for putting back together broken downloads than it is for really increasing speed. The tools with which it is bundled are useful, but the program ultimately doesn't live up to its promises.
If you want faster download speeds, try to avoid downloading at peak times and think about paying for a better internet connection. You probably won't find a program that's going to do much better than this one, though. You'll get slightly faster speeds and you'll find a few new tools to play with - but you won't experience anything that is going to change your life. Always be wary of software solutions to hardware problems.
